Bring New Orleans To Your Home & Celebrate Mardi Gras

You don't have to be in New Orleans to celebrate Mardi Gras, and I mean, who doesn't want an excuse to party?!  Grab your friends and family together for a celebration that will brighten up your midwinter blues!
Mardi Gras is celebrated the day before Ash Wednesday and is a sort of feast and indulgence before the start of Lent. New Orleans is best known for the extravagant Mardi Gras celebrations in which there are parades, festivities, and decadent food to enjoy. But if you find yourself in the New Orleans spirit yet out of the area, it's still really easy and fun to throw your own Mardi Gras celebration at home.  Here are a few pointers on how to celebrate Mardi Gras at home...
First let's start with some DECORATIONS.  Purple, green, and gold are the official colors of the holiday.  Using these bright and vibrant colors will definitely help your party stand out.  Make sure to get plenty of balloons, streamers, confetti, and don't forget plenty of string beads and masks which are a Mardi Gras staple.
There are lots of ACTIVITIES you could do during your party such as Mardi Gras trivia games, make your own masquerade mask, a dance off, and how about a costume contest!  PureCostumes.com has a great selection of Mardi Gras costumes and accessories.
One thing is for sure, you cannot have Mardi Gras party without lots of delicious FOOD!  Infuse your dishes with the classic Cajun and Creole flavors of New Orleans.  You can whip up some yummy Jambalaya, maybe some Gumbo, delicous sea food, you-name-it!  Don't skip out on all of the tasty treats too.  Bread pudding, Beignets, Bananas Foster, and the traditional Kings Cake are a must-have for any Mardi Gras celebration!
Trust me, it's not too late to plan an amazing Mardi Gras party.  Get your creative juices flowing and invite all of your friends over Thursday February 17th for a magnificent Mardi Gras bash!!
