Salba Smart: Baking with Chia Seeds (Review & Giveaway)

The weather here in Chicago has been slowly changing and I feel like we have been fighting off the colds pretty well. I have to give a lot of credit to Salba Smart's Chia Seeds because I know for a fact they have helped protect our bodies from those nasty colds!

Salba Chia Seeds are full of Omega-3s, antioxidants, calcium, fiber, iron, and the lists goes on and on! And better yet, they are easy to eat because they are so small and don't have much flavor, so you can simply add them to your kids oatmeal, yogurt, cookies, pancakes and pudding. I even sprinkle them on my kids cereal and bake with them a lot.

I love to bake all sorts of healthy foods when the weather gets cooler, so I was very excited to receive a Salba Chia Whole Seeds and Salba Chia Premium Ground Seeds with a convenient Salba Smart measuring spoon! I love this spoon because I use my Chia Seeds so often, I was constantly pulling out my measuring spoons, which are always tucked into some hard to reach spot (don't ask me why!), so it was nice to have them in my chia seed container for easy access!
Here are some great facts about Salba Chia Seeds!
Salba Chia Gram for Gram provides . . .
325% more fiber than oatmeal
800% more Omega-3 (ALA) than salmon (EPA/DHA)
30% more antioxidants than blueberries (based on ORAC values)
1500% more magnesium than broccoli
200% more potassium than bananas

Our top 10 ways to use Salba Chia:
1. Sprinkled on top of salads (think sesame seed)
2. To make healthy pudding
3. To thicken soup or gravy
4. Mixed in oatmeal, yogurt or a smoothie
5. To make homemade energy gel
6. As a “breading” for baking chicken
7. In a meatloaf!
8. Chia seeds soaked in fruit juice as a topping for ice cream or cheesecake
9. Baked in cookies, brownies or cake
10. Soak chia seeds in milk and mix through hot oatmeal
