Green Golly & her Golden Flute REVIEW

"In the old days, Rapunzel had to cope with isolation, boredom, and an abbreviated social life, but her modern-day alter ego, Green Golly, has a beautiful golden flute to express her deepest feelings and a life filled with music by the world's greatest composers. Green Golly & her Golden Flute is a beautiful new picture book-with-audio, based on the Parents' Choice® Gold Award winning recording by the same name, written and performed by Keith Torgan and Barbara Siesel."

Green Golly & her Golden Flute is a whimsical and fun spin to the classic tale of Rapunzel.  Stuck in her tower, Green Golly uses her musical abilities to help unravel the mysteries of life in a whole new way!
My kids and I were so pleased when we got the chance to review the Green Golly & her Golden Flute album along with the corresponding picture book.  My kids could not wait to listen to the story and the first night we got it, we all climbed into bed together to listen to the CD and turn the pages in the book.  My younger kids were especially drawn to the book to see the story being illustrated through music and word on the album also coming to life through the pictures in the book!  The story is quite entertaining and full of great musical elements and fun voices!  It basically made for the ultimate bed time story!
After our wonderful experience with Green Golly & her Golden Flute, my kids and I find ourselves wanting more!  We really had tons of fun with the story and book.  I think if we let them, they would probably choose that as our nightly bed time reading each and every night.
Green Golly is a "funny, engaging tale of romance and rescue, interwoven with works of Mozart, Mendelssohn, Schubert, Gossec, Elgar, Bizet, Chopin, and Copland. The heart of Green Golly & her Golden Flute is the gorgeous sound that world class flutist Barbara Siesel creates, making music by some of our greatest composers come alive with tonal vibrancy and an impeccable sense of style and phrasing. Add to that the frolicsome energy and outrageous sense of fun imbued throughout Keith Torgan's storytelling, and you have an experience that is truly something extraordinary in children's entertainment. Torgan fairly dances through the voices of the new characters he's created to grace the beloved tale, from Vlotek the Gypsy to Mousey Tongue, and even his chameleon-like witch who conjures up most of the story's plot surprises."

Green Golly & her Golden Flute comes with a new, innovative StorySticker app, which enables listening to the story and music instantaneously on a mobile device or computer. If ordered directly from greengolly.com or eifrigpublishing.com, the book will be packaged with a free CD, as well. CDs are available separately for $14.95.
