Have your kids started school yet? Mine have already been in for a few weeks now and homework, assignments, sight words, and more have already started to come home in their backpacks. There is a great website Vocabulary Spelling City where students can practice their spelling skills and expand their vocabulary. The website's approach is to reinforce literacy skills through a variety of interactive learning games and activities.
The site is so easy to use! I simply input my daughter's spelling word lists and chose out different activities she could do to practice them. It's a great way for her to be able to work on her vocabulary words and work independently, which she likes. She feels in control while practicing and playing the fun interactive games and I get to monitor her progress and how she is doing with the lists.
I was happily surprised when setting up my account to see that so many of the teachers at my daughter's school are already utilizing the website tools. Many teachers use the site to allow their students to practice vocabulary lists both at school and at home. I thought that was such a great idea! But no matter if your child's teacher is using it or not, like me-you can set up your own account for your children to go on.
Overall, I think Vocabulary Spelling City is a great tool for both parents and educators to help aid children in their progressive learning! My daughter gets so excited when she gets computer time and I get excited knowing that it's being spent wisely on some educational fun!
