Blink of An Eye CD REVIEW

You know how some songs can instantly brighten a crummy day?  That's how I feel about the new Blink of An Eye CD from Frances England!
Frances England is an award-winning, San Francisco-based family recording artist who has recently released her greatly anticipated, fourth CD for kids and families, Blink of an Eye.  I am in LOVE with Frances' voice!  It seriously is so beautiful and soothing.  Listening to her new album has been such a joy!  The songs are bright, cheerful, and seem to capture "the wonders, simple pleasures, and beauty of childhood."
Her songs are both "catchy and heartfelt, the kinds of songs that linger in your head long after listening."  In fact, I don't know that I would technically classify the album as a children's album because I could totally find myself buying this for me or my friends and family--it's THAT good!  Frances explains, "Blink of an Eye is very different from my other children's albums. My boys are growing up, and more and more, they are listening to their own music and deciding for themselves who they like. Bruno Mars, Adam Levine, and Taylor Swift are suddenly played alongside Lunch Money and Caspar Babypants. Blink of an Eye is geared for a slightly older audience than my previous albums and has a quiet pop sensibility about it that I hope both kids and parents will like."
I also just happened to find out that concurrent with writing and recording Blink of an Eye, Frances has been busy creating her first-ever album for adults. Paths We Have Worn, produced by Dean Jones, will be released on September 3. Unlike many children's musicians, who played in bands previous to having kids and then started making kids' music, Frances has taken the reverse path. She notes, "I'm coming at this a little backwards, but I know the songs on Paths We Have Worn wouldn't have emerged without me having gained the confidence and 'groundedness' that playing for children has provided. It wasn't so long ago I was completely terrified of performing in front of anyone, toddlers included. I'm a lot more relaxed than I used to be about performing, and this whole experience has helped me grow in so many different ways."
The fact is, I think this CD is awesome!  I have put it on a lot lately to turn gloomy days bright or just to chill out with the kids and enjoy some family time together.  Blink of An Eye is chill, it's fun, and it's so much fun to listen to!  It's the perfect road trip album that the whole family can listen to over and over again without getting sick of...because it's fresh, uplifting, and catchy!
