Origins: The Infusion Series Review & GIVEAWAY (closed)

I'll be honest, I am kind of picky when it comes to reading books for pleasure.  The life of a mom is a busy one, so if a book doesn't catch my attention within the first few chapters, I usually get bored and set it aside.  When a good friend Steve Tandberg mentioned he had a book coming out, I was instantly intrigued.  First of all, I was completely unaware he was a writer in addition to being a doctor and a father of three beautiful girls.  Second of all, I wanted to see if I aka "Miss Picky Reader" would actually enjoy it.  He sent me the first few chapters and after reading them all in one sitting, I knew I was hooked!  I couldn't wait to read more and knew this was going to be quite the book.  Just like the popular Twilight and Hunger Games books, this book completely drew me--making it almost impossible to stop reading.  That's why I was so excited when I was given the chance to read the book and share it with our readers!
Origins is actually the first book in The Infusion Series, which "chronicles the adventures of Coyle, a young man with leukemia who undergoes an experimental treatment and receives much more than he bargains for. While his body appears cured, something deeper has gone terribly wrong. The world lauds the success over cancer without knowing the consequences and soon will find that their only hope is through Coyle."
I don't want to give too much of the book away, but I can tell you that the novel has something for everyone in it!  There is romance, drama, science fiction, and even mystery.  As I read, I could vividly see everything playing out in my mind like a movie.  I felt a connection to the characters and was completely wrapped around their situations and what was happening in the book.  There is no shortage of twists and turns in the book as a few times I thought I had things figured out and then was thrown for a loop.  I had so much fun watching things unfold as Coyle searched deeper and deeper into his situation.  Also, I want to point out how well written the book was.  As a doctor, Steve had great knowledge behind his writing about cancer and medical treatments.  It definitely made things seem more real and profound to me, which was cool.  Although I knew this was something that wasn't happening right now, I could futuristic possibilities to some of the scenarios.  The use of high-tech medical equipment and the altering of cells--way cool!  When I got to the end of the book I felt good.  I got that feeling of "this was definitely worth my time" and "I would definitely read more of the series!"  So take it from the picky reader, the book is great and was a huge success with me!  I would highly recommend it to others and think it would make an awesome gift to young adult readers and other book lovers!!

A big THANK YOU to Tandberg Books for providing me with a free Origins book to review.  I was not compensated for this review. I receive product(s) for free so that I can provide my insight and experience. These are my honest opinions. Your experience may vary.

  1. I would love this prize because I'm always looking for a book to escape to after the kids are in bed. If it has some basis in reality that goes down a slippery slope and makes me think- even better. The website and Kristin both describe it as such.

  2. The series just sounds like I'd love it!

  3. I would love to win this book because I love to read (it's my escape), and the review you have posted makes it seem like such a great book, keeping your attention and everything!
