Gift Guide: The Boxcar Children Holiday (Giveaway)

"With over 100 titles and 50 million copies in print, The Boxcar Children® series by Gertrude Chandler has raised generations of readers -- many of whom credit their love for reading to this modern classic."
I absolutely love it when my kids take an interest in something that I loved as a child. Right now my girls just can't get enough of the The Lion King. They have watched it over and over again, and my youngest daughter can't sleep without my childhood stuffed animal, Nala!

Now your kids can be introduced to the classic Boxcar Children series while you are "re-aquainted" during the celebration of their 70th anniversary!
About the Series
"The first book in the series, originally published in 1942, introduces the reader to four children who have lost their parents at a young age and, rather than going to live with their unsavory grandfather, decide to strike out on their own. In their travels they come across an abandoned boxcar and decide to make this their home. Short, simple chapters and illustrated throughout, The Boxcar Children encounter adventures and unravel mysteries -- all the while demonstrating practical wisdom, resourcefulness and an enduring commitment to one another. Charming, exciting and heartwarming, this is a series that stands the test of time. In fact, this Fall marks the 70th anniversary of The Boxcar Children and the publisher is celebrating in a big way by publishing a PREQUEL to the series by Newbery award-winning author Patricia MacLaughlan!"
Make sure to check out The Boxcar Children website which contains, activity sheets, a series checklist, activity guides, and much more!

  1. I like the 'extras' like the mystery and activity specials. It's always easy to get this sort of thing for kid tv programs, but I'm not aware of many kid book series doing the same and I would much prefer to encourage my kids to read rather than watch tv.
