In Radio Rebel, Disney Channel star Debby Ryan stars as Tara, a high school girl who is so painfully shy that she can't even write a single letter on the board in front of a class, but who also has an awesome secret - she is "Radio Rebel". When Tara puts on that headset in her room and does her daily podcast, she becomes a confident, outspoken, inspiring, anonymous voice on the airwaves. When her stepfather, the owner/producer guy at SLAM radio, finds out that Tara is Radio Rebel, Tara gets to move from her bedroom to a sound studio to do live shows for SLAM. Everything is the perfect amount of chaos until Principal Moreno, whose only goal in life seems to be to destroy others, cancels Prom and all the students blame Rebel. So will Tara be able to save the day and break out of her shy shell? Watch the movie and see!
My daughter and I got the chance to review Radio Rebel and watch the DVD. Debby Ryan (who we already fell in love with on Disney Channel shows like Jessie and Suite Life on Deck) does an awesome job at portraying her quirky and loveable character Tara. We are able to watch Tara as she sets off on a journey of self-exlporation, standing up for what she believes in, and taking risks. The movie had lots of great lessons and brings important issues to forefront like peer pressure and bullying. Overall, I think a lot of kids and tweens will enjoy the fun, playful, and exciting action that takes place throughout the movie!
