Do you cringe when you go into public restrooms? I do! And now that I have a potty-training boy who insists on straddling the toilet seat, I'm disgusted even more thinking of the germs he comes into contact with. That's when I came across a simple, yet ingenious product--CootieGuards.
"CootieGuards provide your child total protection from public toilet seats with a sanitary barrier that guards against wetness and germs while protecting from lower surfaces where children touch." I knew I had to try them out and was so happy when I was sent samples to review.
CootieGuards are great because they are small enough to transport in your purse, diaper bag, backpack, or pocket, are easy to use, are completely disposable, and the best part--your hands never have to touch the toilet surface!! I no longer have to stress when taking my kids out to run errands and shop. And instead of dreading the words "Mommy I need to go to the bathroom," I know I have CootieGuards in tow and am prepared for any bathroom breaks that may come my way.
To use the CootieGuards, all you have to do is simply slide a guard over the toilet seat using their convenient side tabs, sit your child on top of it, and then when they are done, you use the front tab to pull it off and discard it into the trash. The only tricky part is finding a trash can nearby. That's why I actually like to look for those little trash compartments that come in some stalls and try to use those. However, even if I have to go a little ways to the nearest trash can, it's a lot better than letting my son come into contact with the germs on the public toilet seat! My one suggestion for the CootieGuards that I saw was that they are only made for the "U" shaped toilet seats. Most public restrooms have those, but some places like gas stations may not. I would love to see something that would work for any toilet seat. But even if you just set the CootieGuard protector on top of the round toilet seats-they still are able to come in handy.
Another great thing about CootieGuards is besides reducing the stress of potty training, they also provide support and prevent smaller children from falling in the potty--a common fear which many young kids have (especially in public restrooms). Overall, it makes public restroom safety a breeze!
