Green Life - Cookware (Review)

The "Healthy Choice" in Cookware
Green+Life is a new line of cookware launched by the Cookware Company, which is a merger between GreenPan, which you may be familiar with from my GreenPan review, and their major manufacturing partner, Anotech International.
Green+Life is a healthy cookware product line that is completely free of PTFE and PFOA, which are non-stick coatings used for many non-stick pans and other cookware that can release harmful fumes when heated too high.
The Green+Life products are coated with a patented Thermolon non-stick ceramic that is a mineral based coating that is heat resistant up to 850 degrees Fahrenheit.
We received a pan to review and have used it everyday since we got it. It heats up very nicely and I don't have to be worrying about harming my family with toxic chemicals. Because of the non-stick feature of this pan, cleaning up is a breeze. I simply use a soft wash cloth, or I pop it in the dishwasher, yeah that's right, in the dishwasher! These products are made for busy moms like myself!

A big THANKS to Green+Life for providing me with a product to review. These are my honest opinions, your experience may vary.

  3. We bought the small Green Life fry pan primarily to cook my granddaughter an egg. That's all we've done in about six weeks of owning the pan. We rub it with olive oil with a paper towel, use heat a little below medium and now every egg sticks. I don't see what's so wonderful about this cookware.

    1. It says in the instructions not to use olive oil, as this takes away the nonstick properties of the pan. Also, if you gently clean the pan with a Mr. Clean magic eraser, it should restore the nonstick surface.

    2. 3-9-14 it says to use cooking oil NOT EXTRA VIRGIN OIL First time use was great. to be continued..

  4. Wonderful pan. Does not stick ever.
we use very little oil. Cokks even at lower heats.Everyboby who says it sticks must be trying to cook on high. We like it.

  5. Pan is garbage.
Used it for 6 months now everything sticks. I will go back to t-fal

  6. Under no circumstance should you buy these pans within two weeks everything you cook sticks no matter what you do. I have wasted over a hundred bucks to end up with pans that are useless for any kind of good cooking.

    1. I recently purchased 3 of these pans and they are simply worthless. I have gone back to T-Fal. Even the bacon I fried in them was cemented to the pan. I cooked on a temperature that was never above medium. The ceramic also has small broken shivers, so I assume we have been eating small shivers of glass.

I would not recommend these pans to anyone!!!

  7. Count me in the "Buy this pan" group. I've been using it for weeks and not a hint of sticking. I bought the $18 one at Walmart and I'm very happy with it. The one thing that could be improved is the heat distribution. It doesn't seem to distribute heat very well, but I bought it as a safe non-stick and it accomplished that fully. I don't season it at all.

    1. I have the green life pans but not the green coated ones. mine are coated with gray material. I just love them. wash with a wash clothe. I sometimes use a little oil and other times not. it is healthier and you do not get the chemicals that are in other pans. I have 3 frying pans. easy to clean. I need to find a large pot but not able to.

  10. I bought the whole set! They are amazing!!! As long as you only use the plastic utincils provided they stay non stick. =) Great investment

  11. Bad experience for me as well. Using a new pan and egg beater product sticks. Hamburger sticks. Customer service says perhaps I received a defective pan so I exchanged my pan for another new one and guess what??? Surprise...same exact thing! Customer service says they have heard this complaint twice before but never from someone using a gas stove and that it is possible it is because I have an "electric stove" - I'm not joking. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT!

  12. I purchased the 10 inch pan, had no problems until this past week when I noticed a pinhole on the bottom of the pan that was a chip. I only used it 5 times and only to sautée veggies and I use a plastic non stick spatula. I was not happy but took it back to Walmart and they exchanged it for me. Now I will see if it happens again and will let you all know.

  13. Two of the comments I read said they were unhappy because things started to stick after a very short time. One said they used olive oil and the other said they used a non stick type spray. If they had read the little instruction booklet first they would have seen that the book says to NOT use olive oil or spray type lubricants.

  14. Very disappointed in pan. Never used spray or olive oil cooked at low to med and after a couple weeks everything sticks even bacon. Sad I really liked it and recommended it to family members. Never again.

  15. Thank you everyone for posting your comments. There are definitely some mixed feelings about these pans. My husband and I really like Green Pan cookware, but have indeed started to notice some of the coating on our pans are chipping off around the edges. Definitely not a good thing and will be sending an email to their PR and will let you know what they say!

    1. Same here. It's just been a month since I am using green pan & I can see some discoloration in them. Initially thought my be it was not washed well but later in the day light it clearly shows like the coating has chipped off. I am so disappointed coz I paid $80 for this here in Singapore:( I really need to complain about this

    2. Hey Jaime.. so what did their PR say? Are you still happy with the Green Life pans per your original post? Would you still recommend them? Thanks!

  16. I bought the 10" pan from Walmart to try out. I read the reviews here as well as the entire package. I first tried hamburger, specifically meatballs. They looked up easily. I let the pan cool then wiped it clean and only cleaned it with a rag. I didnt use the dishwasher. Next I used it for sauteeing some vegetables and again it worked just fine. I probably wouldnt use olive oil in this pan since plive oil is not great at hot temperatures. Instead I would opt for natural coconut oil. It is a better oil for high temps. So far, Im pleased.

    1. I received the large fry pan as a gift from my son, and I came to this site to see how to care for it. I was alarmed seeing so many bad reviews, but I thought I would just see how it went, I absolutely love this pan! It takes little or no oil to brown meat, its wonderful for stir fry. Clean up is a breeze, and it heats up at a lower temp, and is a consistant for browning all food. I think those that have had a bad experience with these pans should take them back-lifetime warranty, and try cooking at lower heat, because there has to be a reason that their pans arent working well, and I dont think its the pan.

  17. I got a set as a gift. I washed them as instructed. I made a huge breakfast this morning using 3 different pans. I used a teaspoon of coconut oil and everything slid off. I let them cool as directed. Wiped themwith a paper towel them washed them with a gentle soap. They still looks brand new. So far I love them!

  18. if used correctly they will never stick. 1 pan I bought I cooked with to high of a heat and then everything started sticking, I call the company the replaced it with out question! now I cook on lower temps, and have no problems

  19. I bought a 10 piece set because of all the "good" advertizing qualities. Sorry but the ads are BS. Every pan sticks. I have gone back to my copper bottomed stainless steel and use my regular ole olive oil. I wouldn't even give these Green+Life away. Ashamed of them. Been married 51 years and this is my ONLY kitchen mistake.

  20. Any positive comments here have to be from bots or the company. These products are a complete joke. they literally are non stick the first time you use them, and barely at that. I mean what can I expect from [products bought at Target but really. dont waste your moeny

    ReplyDelete
  21. I would never recommend to these to anyone. Everything I cook sticks to pan and I do not cook on high heat!!!! The pan is useless for frying!!!! would like my money back!!!!

  22. Wish i had googled it before i buy.....same bad experience of food sticking to the pan! And here we dont have a return policy for opened and used stuff...

  23. Just bought one. Fried an egg with no oil. No sticking. The next day I cooked meat and rolled that into a cheesy omelet. No oil used and again no sticking.

  24. I have purchased two of these pans. I liked the first one so well I purchased a small one. I have had mine for 4 months and use them daily. I have never had anything stick. Sometimes I wash quickly by hand, buy have cleaned them several times in the dishwasher. I recently gave one to my daughter for her birthday. She wants a full set for Christmas as she loves the non-stick cooking as well as the easy clean up.

  25. I received a set as a gift from someone. I have had no problem with the pots, but the pans - sauce and fry - are useless. within a week, things starting sticking. i am unable to get one of them clean, and cannot use it. Another is getting stained from foods that stick. about ready to toss both of the pans in the trash. I do not recommend this brand.

  27. They tell you if something sticks, add a drop of water and the steam will lift it. Did anyone read the instructions on washing, using, or unsticking food?

  28. I received the 14pc set as a Christmas gift and am now extremely concerned after reading all the reviews. I asked for T-Fal but got these. Am seriously thinking of returning them before I even open the box and getting the T-Fal even if I have to pay more.

  29. I did not use any sprays or oils as directed and the coating was gone within weeks forcing me to use sprays or oils since the non-stick is gone. Don't waste your money. It was fine in cooking low heat food but as soon as I used it to sear/brown (high heat cooking a steak) the pan discolored and the non stick was gone.

    1. I've had my 10 inch fry pan for several weeks. I've cooked eggs, chicken, lamb, steak, with a little olive oil for flavor. NOTHING sticks, plus the meat browns nicely. Not sure why some people have the problem with sticking. Got mine a Walmart.

  30. I have a ton of these pans and love them. I actually bought them for christmas gifts this year. I know the people that are having issues with sticking, I do believe they have a lifetime warranty on them. Just a thought.

  33. I have been using mine since Christmas, and I've had nothing but fantastic results. I'm really, really peticular about my cookware because I have parrots, and anything with PTFE or PFOA that overheats will literally kill them from the toxic fumes they give off. I've taken to using a rubber (albeit quite stiff) spatula to protect the pans when I'm cooking, and I've never had to use them at a very high heat. I love these pans, and highly reccomend them. -Also, I certainly am not a bot, nor am I affiliated with the "company", as one commenter suggested that anyone who liked the pans would have to be. Different strokes for different folks, I guess. I'll let you guys know if anything comes up later with these pans, but for the first month, they've been awesome.

  35. Great for about a couple months. Save your money because the non stick just does not hold up. Everything is sticking and burning to the surface even on lower heat. Were not impressed at all. Just more Chinese junk.

  36. I have had my pan for about 3 months. At first it was wonderful. I use it almost every day. Now it is starting to stick and discolor on the center. For $40 I am very displeased with the product and wish I had kept the receit so i could return it.

  37. Use it...like it...but after one month..pan has chips...an no I'm not using metal spachla

  38. Horrible pans!! I Everything sticks on them. Very bad inversion!!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Don't waste your money on these pans. they work for a few weeks, but after that you'll be using more and more oil to keep food from sticking. Eventually even the oil won't help. One of the worst kitchen utensils I ever bought.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I've learned that no matter the non stick surface they all stick after a years worth of use including the Calphalon brand. You might as well use the less expensive T-Fal and replace it after a year or two's worth of use. It is actually less money spent for superior non stick performance in the long run.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Wow. I've had two of these pans bought on a wim (cream colored cooking interior) for a few months. They are so much better than any nonstick pan of any kind I've ever used. I didn't read the olive oil thing, oops? Use EVO at least 3 times a week, so far no issues. Perhaps it's due to only using a small amount? I only cook on med. heat, and never washed in the dishwasher. These pans are also put to one side to stay protected, due to the coating being very delicate. (Other items brushing up against it, like the faucet, can chip it with ease.)

I found this page while googling where to get deeper versions, with maybe a lid, for making one pan main courses. I'm shocked at the problems people have had. However, most non-stick pans haven't worked for me, were MUCH more expensive, and they had great reviews. So I suppose it's different for everyone. If mine fail in a few months, I still want more. Best pans I've ever owned. Literally never in the cabinet, used at every meal. If I had any faith in them working for me, I would have kept the receipt/warranty info. Haha. Will do that next time. I really hope that the people I've excitedly babbled to, about these pans, don't have all the troubles mentioned above; if they do buy them.

  42. This skillett someone git for me is the WORST one ive ever had .everything sticks.everything.....what a waste of money.shame on you green life.I want my freinds money back.

  43. Really bad!!! Bought a small Green+Life pan to fry an egg each morning. I use low temp with no oil or spray. It is always hand-washed. Was an absolutely great pan for about 7-8 weeks. Then it began to lose the non-stick properties. That progressed to everything sticking badly. then I began to try some oils and food still sticks like adhesive. This pan replaced a 10 year old T_Fal pan that got put on a burned at high heat and forgot about. that old T-Fal pan had to be thrown away just like this new Green+Life pan that cannot be used anymore. Oddly, the new pan still cleans quite easily when cool. Are these Green+Life pans re-seasonable? If you do buy a Green+Life pan..... I told you so......

  44. are the pans 'lead-free' as well?

  45. I use green+life pans and I love them! I use them every single day and have no trouble at all. Will definitely buy more in the future
