Take It From Me: The BabySense Secret Book Review

The BabySense Secret Book Review

During my pregnancy with my first baby almost 5 years ago, I turned to books for some much needed learning. I wanted to feel educated on what would be happening during those nine long months of pregnancy and prepare myself for life with my first child. I could not believe how much I learned and how much knowledge I gained from what I read! Still to this day, people often enquire about and appreciate all of the information I have on the subject. With the anticipated arrival of another baby approaching, I find myself turning back to those books for reference, as well as diving into new books for an expansion of more knowledge.
When I got the chance to review occupational therapist and parenting book best-seller Megan Faure’s new The Babysense Secret book, I instantly jumped at the opportunity! Megan Faure’s previous best-selling book Baby Sense reveals that the answer to a calm and rested baby lies in understanding baby’s sensory world. Her newest book, The Babysense Secret, is based on sensory integration principles and offers parents insight to understanding how to read a baby’s body language and signals. The knowledge gained by parents through these books will help them structure a flexible routine around their child’s needs for peaceful, easy nights and calm periods of daytime wakefulness.
I have to tell you that I am so grateful for being introduced to this book! It is wonderful! I feel like I have such a better understanding of how to communicate with a baby, how to read their moods, body language, and more, then be able to respond accordingly. I understand their developing senses and even ways how to boost a child’s development. I am so excited to take what I have learned (which I have actually already started doing with the baby in the womb still) and use it as I help my new baby comfortably enter into this great big world and all of the brand new experiences that are to come. Also, I know this may not seem like a big deal to some, but I have found that the pictures, tables, hints, and helpers found throughout this book (many are on the sides in the margins) are extremely helpful and interesting!! The visual images really stimulate the mind and there are tons of great tid bits found within those margins that you do not want to skip over! I will definitely share with you my personal experiences with putting this book’s insight into practice when I have my baby and highly recommend this book to any moms out there! It could even make a great baby shower gift for a friend as well!
(This is a sneak peek into the book.  It was acutally one of my favorite parts that talks about the six stages of a baby---very useful!!)
All in all, The Babysense Secret is a must-read for every sleep deprived new parent and explains how to read a baby’s body language and signals. It aids in the learning process of balancing a child’s capacity for stimulation and need for sleep so parents can recognize how their baby is feeling and what he or she wants. “Almost every parent I have ever spoken to has longed for a manual explaining how to ‘read’ their baby, to understand the hows, whys, and whens of sleeping, feeding and stimulation,” said Faure. “The baby in their arms holds all the answers and will tell them what they need and when they need it.”
